So far, 2020 has thrown us quite a few curveballs, many of which we’re all still dealing with. However, as we all continue to try and get on with our daily lives, some things are certain: your child will soon need a set of wheels to attend school (depending on where you live) and run errands. Either way, car insurance is a must. Whether they’re heading to college or starting the last year of high school, Shepard Walton King has the insurance information you need.
Get to Know the Vehicle
Before your young driver hits the road, they should take the time to know their (or your) car. We’re not talking horsepower, gear ratios, or telemetry here. We’re talking about knowing the owner’s manual and general maintenance like tire rotations, oil changes, and regular tune-ups. A car that’s taken care of will last for years.
Know Important Routes
Whether your new driver is moving upstate to attend college or is looking to travel 15 minutes every morning for high school, one thing’s for sure, they’ll need to know important routes. Have them get familiar with speed limits and street names. Doing so will ensure that they won’t get lost.
Get Insured!
Your child more than likely knows little about car insurance. This means it’s your duty to teach them the importance of it and how necessary it is. Teach them everything, from how it covers them in case of an accident to how it can come in handy if they’re ever stranded on the side of the road.
