A New You: 4 Ways to Stay Healthy and Fit in 2016
We all want to look and feel better, maybe trim a little around the waist and essentially be better people. New Year resolutions aren’t much of a surprise. Everyone’s aspirations seem to be similar as most of us are reaching for the same goals. Plan for Success
The right plan is a smart plan. Think in simple terms when planning out your new goals. Whatever it may be, think small. If you haven’t run in quite some time, a marathon may not be the most realistic goal to complete by the end of the year. Instead, focus on attainable goals you can monitor gradually over time, checking off each small step with every passing month.
Stick to a Realistic Exercise Schedule
Again, think in baby steps. If you haven’t exercised at all in 2015, then don’t enroll in a cardio class at your gym. If you’re not a morning person, then don’t schedule workouts for 5:00 AM. That’s setting yourself up for failure since your body probably won’t handle it. Instead, aim for three sessions a week, then increase them over time until you’ve met a realistic gym/run/workout schedule and reasonable time that accommodates your lifestyle.
Prepare Your Own Meals
This is probably the most important one. If you want to eat healthier, stay on a clean diet, save money, spend less, eat less fast food, etc., preparing your own meals is the safest way to go. Chicken breast, broccoli and brown rice can only go so far before your taste buds burn out of boredom. Get creative, that’s what the Internet is for.
The benefits are endless and it’s a very simple solution to many problems. Have headaches? You may be dealing with dehydration, so drink water. Want to lose weight? Drink water. The more you drink, the better you’ll feel. Even if this isn’t part of your New Year’s resolution, make a mental note to drink 4-5 glasses a day.
