Summer has always been about relaxing. A good vacation, the perfect weather, and a good book can do wonders to clear your mind and improve your mood. Summer is the perfect time to work on your health and start some good habits before the dreariness of fall and winter make their return.
As Summer Heats Up We Can Keep You Covered.
So how can you make the most of your summer while staying healthy, here’s some tips.
Get Outside
Short and sweet, summer is the time you should be enjoying the outdoors the most. The weather is mostly perfect and the sunshine provides a constant source of vitamin D. Go for a hike, take your bike to work, or take the family out camping and enjoy the fresh air. It may sound simple but merely taking a walk outside and enjoying the fresh air can put you in a good state of mind.
If you have children who are enjoying summer break make some time to be with them. Head to the park or plan a family vacation, use the weather as an excuse to just spend time with each other. It’s the simple things that really can give you the most perspective.
Sun Shield
Of course, with summer heat comes strong sun rays. You should always be sure to take precautions when enjoying any activity outside, always have sunscreen available to use. The days are longest during the summer meaning the sun is out longer and stronger than any other time of the year and you should prepare accordingly.
Even if you do not plan to stay outside for too long sunscreen is an absolute must. A good waterproof sunscreen with a high SPF rating will help you both in the short and long terms, preventing painful sunburns and lowering your chances of skin cancer.
Stay Hydrated
Long hot summer days can also mess with your body if you do not stay properly hydrated. Always have a water supply with you during outdoor activities and drink plenty and often. Dehydration can lead to dizziness, fatigue, and eventually heat stroke, which can be especially dangerous for children and the elderly.
It is also advisable to not replace drinking water with drinking sugary beverages like soda or juice drinks which can actually accelerate dehydration. Keep things light, and add things like lemon or other fresh fruits to add some flavor to your water if you so please.
